Special One-Day Shop Hosted for Cleveland Students

The spirit of Christmas giving was alive and well in the cafeteria of Cleveland Elementary School on Friday, December 5. The children of Cleveland and Northeast Wisconsin Montessori Schools showed up amass with dollars clutched in their hands, many of which were hard-earned by performing household chores, to purchase holiday gifts for their moms, dads, grandparents and siblings.

The annual Cleveland Holiday Shoppe provided students with the opportunity to choose gifts for loved ones at minimal prices ranging from $.50 to $5. To stock the store, staff and PTA members had been purchasing well-priced items over the course of the year so that students could afford to choose something special.

One student, while choosing a special gift for his Mom, exclaimed, "She will love it!" as he happily tucked it into his shopping basket.

Many children opted for the barbeque and golf accessories for Dad, with jewelry and glassware for Mom. Students and parents could also purchase baked goods from the PTA and "Toad Abodes" hand painted by the Cleveland Elementary Garden Club members. By the end of the evening gifts were chosen, wrapped and ready for Christmas morning.

With the affordable options some children even had money left over to purchase a toy for themselves. Special thanks to Kris Mahler, chairperson for this year's event, and to the staff and PTA of Cleveland Elementary.
