Singer/songwriter Todd Werner recently visited Cleveland Elementary School to share his character education program with the students and staff. In the weeks leading up to the program, the students worked with music teacher Mary Valley to learn some of the songs so they would be ready to sing along to his uplifting and encouraging music. Werner's emphasis was on getting along, making friendly choices and building self-esteem and he encouraged and taught children about positive character traits.
During the presentation Werner taught the students lessons on peacemaking and on people's roles as peacemakers. His music and words reinforced the concepts that we all have a role to play as peacemakers, we all are connected, and we all have a responsibility to take care of one another.
When asked about his character education program, Werner stated, "Having the opportunity to not only share my music, but to share important lessons and messages along the way is an incredible honor and joy that is hard to express. I am grateful for every opportunity that my music can find its way into a child's life."
Werner's music has been used in schools and agencies throughout the world. To date, he has given permission for his music to be used in schools in South Africa, Australia, England, Canada, and many parts of the United States.
