Cooper Elementary students and staff celebrated Hmong New Year on Wednesday, November 25. Hmong students dressed in traditional clothing while staff members Julie Horsch, Ia Vue, Yer Thao, and Leigh Lorge prepared eggrolls and sticky rice for the entire school.

Lessons on the Hmong culture were integrated into classroom curricula, students savored food from a different culture, and Hmong children participated in a parade through Cooper classrooms. Celebrating the Hmong New Year offered an opportunity for Cooper kids to celebrate cultural differences, and display cultural acceptance and pride.
