Cooper Students Donate $1072 to Red Cross
Cooper Elementary School students recently participated in a penny war to raise money for the Red Cross to help with relief efforts in Haiti. Cooper School's ‘Above the Influence' group developed the idea and decorated buckets for each classroom. Each class was challenged with winning a prize.

The total amount of money raised during the penny war was $1,072. Kelly Brotz's 2nd grade classroom won the challenge of raising the most money with a total of $201. Second place went to Christine Ahrens' 5th grade classroom with $135.80; third place went to Margaret Heyn's 3rd grade classroom with $112.55.

Ann Bunke, SASD Art teacher, commented, "Cooper School students did an awesome job and should be very proud of themselves for taking on the job to help others in need. Each classroom rose to the challenge in raising significant amounts of money."
