Cooper Students Enjoy Learning about Turnips
All three second grade classrooms at Cooper Elementary School celebrated the completion of their reading of The Enormous Turnip
by cooking turnips in the classroom. Students were able to use all
their senses by passing around a fresh turnip to feel and observe,
smelling a cut piece of fresh turnip, listening to them sizzle in the
pan and finally tasting them! Classes voted on how they best liked the
turnips prepared: raw, with salt and butter, or with butter and brown
sugar. They also voted on whether or not they liked the turnips and
would eat them again. Many of the children said that they would like to
try them again and hope that their parents will cook them for supper.Sheboygan Area School District Press Release
