Cooper Students Learn Fire Safety
On Tuesday October 8th the second grade students at Cooper Elementary School were visited by two firefighters from Station #4.  The children toured the hook and ladder truck and were introduced to the different tools the firefighters use when they are called to a fire. Most importantly, the children learned that it is important for everyone to have a plan for escaping their house in case of a fire and that they have working smoke detectors on every level and near all bedrooms in their house.  After the fire safety presentation, the students went home, created their own fire safety plan with their families and then brought them back to school to share. These are two great websites the firefighters shared for helping to educate your family about fire safety: http://www.firefacts.org/ and http://www.usfa.fema.gov/kids/flash.shtm.
