<title><![CDATA[Pigeon River Gets a Hole in One with Miniature Golf Course]]></title>

<title><![CDATA[Grant Students Participate in Geography Bee]]></title>

These 12 were determined through 9 rounds of questions that were given during previous Social Studies classes. The finalists were: 3rd place Christian Radschlag, 2nd place Abram Hopp, and 1st place&nbsp; Jaidin Thiex. Others participating in the Geography Bee were: Shakira Rhodes, Elijah Enriquez, Aidan Hager, Bryan Yang, Madelyn Vang, Moua Yang,&nbsp; Madison Capetillo and Alex Gilmore. Congratulations to all the finalists and to all the students for their efforts.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Lakeland Women&#8217;s Basketball Muskies Clinic at Sheridan Elementary School]]></title>

The staff worked with the young athletes on basic fundamentals that are important for all basketball players: Shooting Form, Rebounding Technique, Passing, Dribbling & Ball Handling, and Defensive Position. All the participants received a Jr. Muskies t-shirt signed by the team members. It was great fun for all the students that took part in this event.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[North High School Students Earn Honors at the State ProStart Competition]]></title>

Sheboygan North High School students placed in the top three culinary  teams at the competition.  NHS senior Shawna Anderson tied for first place in the individual knife  skills competition with over 100 competitors.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[North High Freshmen Link Literacy Skills with Creative Expression]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<img class="thumbnail" alt="photo" src="http://www.sheboygan.k12.wi.us/cutenews/data/upimages/2013_0430_north_small.jpg" align="none" border="1">North High School students choreographed and performed a &#8220;Dance of the 
Ho Chi Minh Trail,&#8221; with their own musical accompaniment, to express a 
cultural understanding of the Vietnam War.&nbsp; Students in African Asian 
World classes have been reading primary and secondary source accounts of
 the Vietnam War from multi-cultural perspectives. Included in those 
readings was an article on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which allowed students
 to see how the trail was viewed during the War, and how it is 
re-envisioned today. Using the reading as inspiration, students then 
created fictional characters who wrote &#8220;letters home&#8221; from the Trail.&nbsp; 
From these letters, small groups worked together to create story lines, 
which were then turned into dance.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Montessori Students Learn about Comets]]></title>

students at Northeast Wisconsin Montessori School at Cleveland 
Elementary welcomed a very special guest speaker on Friday, March 15th.&nbsp;
 Parent and life-long student of Astronomy, Scott Blair, shared his 
expertise with the mixed-age class of 1st through 6th graders.&nbsp; He 
explained how comets are formed and even made one for the class out of 
dirt, dry ice, ammonia, water and corn syrup, so the children could 
observe how a comet behaves in space and forms it's characteristic tail 
as it approaches the sun. This fun lesson was enhanced by Mr. Blair 
giving the children research ideas and tools to explore more of our 
solar system and the universe beyond, so they will be experts by time 
Comet ISON appears in November 2013.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Jackson Third Graders Become Published Authors]]></title>

They entered a room filled with their parents, teachers, aides and even a few grandparents. The occasion? The students&#8217; book publishing projects had arrived and parents were invited to share in the moment of exhilaration when the students learned that their books had finally arrived. <br />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Parents Attend Student-Led Conferences at A2 Charter School]]></title>

guided their families from one activity to the next to demonstrate the 
evidence of their learning over the past several months. At an all 
school conference called &#8220;The Invention Convention&#8221;, students acted as 
presenters for their family members who came to view the products and 
performances the students had prepared, much of it based on work they

<title><![CDATA[Jefferson Students Learn at Spaceport Sheboygan]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Jefferson Elementary School fifth grade students took a field trip to Spaceport Sheboygan.&nbsp; Students learned how astronauts live on the International Space Station, from eating in space to meeting daily care needs. Students made mock protective gear for an astronaut by using things like bubble wrap, construction paper and duct tape.&nbsp; They wrapped a potato in this protective wear to simulate what is worn in space.&nbsp; Once the potato was wrapped a giant nail was plunged into the potato from a ten foot PVC pipe to simulate an object striking a real space suit in space.&nbsp; Of eight groups, two of our potatoes survived the trauma.<br />]]></description>

members traveled to Avignon, France, March 20-30, as part of an 
educational exchange program. The students will engage in educational 
and cultural experiences as part of their home stay with French host 
families. Students will visit Ren&#233; Char, one of their local secondary 
schools, where they will shadow a French student. Sheboygan students 
will also visit the Pope&#8217;s Palace, part of the Catholic Church&#8217;s 
historical 14th century schism; Pont Du Gard, an ancient aqueduct; 
Arles, an ancient Roman city; and Marseilles.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Cooper Students Enjoy Favorite School Tradition &#8211; Bedtime Books]]></title>

Pajama-clad students in kindergarten through third grade, parents,  grandparents, and family friends attended the event.&nbsp; Cooper principal, Larry Brahan, welcomed guests as they enjoyed milk and  cookies followed by a story read by the evening&#8217;s guest speaker, Ruth  Benedum, a retired Sheboygan Area School District and former Cooper  teacher.&nbsp;&nbsp; Many children carried sleeping bags, blankets, and stuffed  animals as they rotated among classrooms and listened to bedtime stories  read by Cooper staff members.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[A2 Students Re-create Colonial Tea Party]]></title>

the menu at A2 Charter School on Wednesday, February 13, as students 
interpreted their recent learning by re-creating a colonial tea party. 
Six different stories about children who grew up in Virginia in the 
1700&#8217;s were the basis of a study of Revolutionary America. Students came
 to school dressed as characters from the books they had read, performed
 plays about the key ideas expressed in the books regarding life in 
colonial times.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Sheridan Student Wins Statewide Fire Safety Poster Contest]]></title>

Hernandez, a fifth grade student at Sheridan Elementary School, Grand 
Prize in the WAFS&#8217; annual fire and burn prevention poster contest. The 
award was presented by&nbsp; Kathy Meulemans, Executive Director of WAFS at a
 school assembly. She was joined by Sheboygan Fire Chief Jeffrey Hermann
 in recognizing Eduardo for his accomplishment. The Sheboygan Fire 
Department has placed a great emphasis on teaching fire prevention and 
fire safety to the general public and specifically grade school aged 
children. The Department has developed a very comprehensive program that
 begins with kindergarten children and concludes in the fourth grade. <br />]]></description>

knowledge!&nbsp; In first place was 5th grader Jackson Pond&nbsp; In second place 
was 5th grader Samuel Delasanta, and in third place was 4th grader

<title><![CDATA[NHS Students Head to Elementary Schools for Read Across America]]></title>

North High School students who are members of Raiders Against Drugs and Alcohol (RADA) and the Blue Crew headed out to SASD elementary schools to read Dr. Seuss books to the students. We don't know who had more fun - the high  schoolers or the elementary school students. Either way, it was a great  day!]]></description>
