SASD Long Range (5-Year) Plan - Goals & Objectives

Goal 1:

All students will perform at the “meets or exceeds” level on the common classroom and district assessments by the 2014-15 school year.

Objective 1

Implement a district curriculum, assessment and instruction plan for student learning.

Objective 2

Incorporate project-based learning, community-based learning and real-world applications.

Students and staff will utilize digital technologies and media to be engaged in the learning process to acquire information and demonstrate learning. Read more

Objective 4 Develop a process for schools to implement research-based reform models in order to meet students’ needs.
Objective 5 Assist students in identifying their individual aptitudes and develop post-graduation plans.

Goal 2:

All students will perform at the “meets or exceeds” level for behavior as measured by school-wide behavior data to provide for a safe school environment (office discipline referrals, attendance, number of students and success rate of behavior interventions, etc).

Goal 3:

District support systems are aligned to maximize student learning.

Objective 1

Retain and hire forward thinking administrators who have a learning background and can lead diverse groups of people to proactively/creatively problem-solve.

Objective 2 Develop negotiating strategies for all groups based on supporting learning.
Objective 3 Develop a five-year financial forecast.
Objective 4 Ensure the Sheboygan Area School District has the organizational structure to support the vision.
Objective 5 Teacher evaluation model incorporates student growth data of core subjects and 21st century skills.
Objective 6 Administrative evaluation model incorporates student growth data.

Goal 4:

Parents and community are involved in student learning.

Objective 1 Develop a mechanism to support parent(s) in fulfilling their role.
Objective 2 Provide parent development in academic areas to support their children.


Update: This goal has been incorporated into Goal 1 and Goal 2 and will no longer be a standalone goal.

Goal 5:

District stakeholders are engaged in the education process through effective and timely communications.

Objective 1 Develop a communications plan to provide timely, valued information to all district stakeholders.
Objective 2 Communicate long-range plan ideas with internal and external stakeholders.
Objective 3 Ongoing dialogue with stakeholders as we implement the five-year plan so that we make necessary updates.
Objective 4 More continuity/communication from elementary to middle school.
