Early Learning Students Collect Coins for City Park Project

Early Learning Center staff invites their families, neighbors and friends to participate in a Penny War, with all proceeds to benefit the Sheboygan Park Project. The Early Learning Center is a proud supporter of the Sheboygan Park Project.

The fundraiser is part of a joint effort being led by community members to design and build a universally accessible playground at the lakefront of Sheboygan. The playground will allow all children, regardless of ability, to play side by side. Also there will be no barriers preventing adults with disabilities from enjoying playtime with their children.

The Penny War encourages ELC students and their families to donate their loose change that will be collected by each teacher. Classes will compete to see who can raise the most money and the winning class will be awarded a celebration party in May.

The goal is to have the Early Learning Center permanently recognized at the playground. Through funds raised in the penny war, the school will purchase fence pickets that are engraved with the following: Early Learning Center, Classes of 2008-2009.

The Penny War takes place now until May 29.

The children will enjoy watching their classroom collections grow, knowing that together we can make a difference.
