Adam Binder, Farnsworth Middle School Student Council co-advisor, recently announced that due to the hard work of Student Council and all the generous donations from both students and staff, the Farnsworth Student Council will be donating $600 to the American Childhood Cancer Organization Lakeshore Counties Chapter on behalf of Farnsworth. This money will be helping families in the Sheboygan community who have children with cancer.
The money was raised during the school's Childhood Cancer Awareness Week that ran from Wednesday, October 20 through Tuesday, October 26. Students were able to purchase red and/or blue tickets before and after school for $1 each. Students who purchased a red ticket had the privilege of bringing their jacket and backpack to plus period for the day. Students who bought a blue ticket were able to participate in the different "dress up days" activities. Staff also purchased a $1 ticket for each day they would like to wear jeans to work or for each day that they would like to participate in the dress up days.
The week culminated with the Halloween Dance, with one-half of the door proceeds being donated to the fundraiser. During the dance, students were able to purchase a $1 ticket for the opportunity to throw a water balloon at a teacher.
