Physical education provides opportunities for all students to acquire knowledge and movement skills related to an active healthy lifestyle. At Farnsworth Middle School, students receive physical education instruction every other day for approximately 41 minutes per day. Class sizes typically are between 20-32 students. |

All students need to have athletic socks, tennis shoes with laces, shorts or sweatpants with elastic waist and a light colored t-shirt. We encourage students to take P.E. clothes home to be washed as needed. | |
Fitness Wednesdays On Wednesdays extra emphasis is placed on overall fitness, including cardiovascular strength and endurance, and muscular strength, endurance and flexibility. This is accomplished though fitness-related activities such as the 23-minute run/walk, P.A.C.E.R., run-one minute/walk-one minute, dice game, partner relay, tug-of-war, team P.A.C.E.R, cardiovascular machines, and weight lifting machines. Once a year, each student will be tested to evaluate five aspects of physical fitness including muscular strength and endurance, agility, cardiovascular strength, endurance and flexibility. The five tests include: Flexed-Arm Hang, Sit and Reach, Sit-ups/Curl-ups, P.A.C.E.R. and the Shuttle Run. |

Fitness Center The Fitness Center is equipped with stationary bikes, treadmills, selectorized weight equipment, ellipticals, steppers, recumbant bikes, pedometers, a rock climbing wall, Ps2 bikes, and free weights. |

| We expect ALL students to be their BEST. Students will demonstrate respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness while being involved in Physical Education class. They will be graded on being their BEST at all times (including in the locker room area). FIVE (5) points can be earned each day, ONE (1) point for each of the letters of U-BEST (Your Best). | ||
