Farnsworth Middle School is holding a Science Fair on Thursday, February 23, 2012. The Science teachers are encouraging students to
participate in the fair and asking parents to support this valuable
experience. The following information is provided to assist you in preparing the science exhibit.
Students can prepare individual or group
projects. They are encouraged to persue investigations that use scientific thought
processes and the scientific method. The Science Fair website will provide the necessary information for participants including a review of the Scientific Method, links to project ideas, directions for making a display board, and the criteria used for judging exhibits.
Students should assume as much
responsibility for the project as possible. Parents may provide support,
offer advice when necessary, help with expenses for the project, and
provide any needed transportation. Parents will also want to supervise the
investigation, making certain that animals are treated humanely and the
investigation is safe. In addition, parents should occasionally check on the progress of the
project and make suggestions for improvement.
Students wishing to participate should download the entry from from the "How do I enter the Science Fair?" link above. Completed forms must be returned to the student's science teacher by Thursday, February 9, 2012.
The Science Fair will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in the Farnsworth Library. It will be open to the public from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Students are expected to be present during the evening hour to explain their projects to the public.
