Grant School Family Honored as School of Character

The Wisconsin Character Education Partnership (WCEP) has announced that the Grant School Family (Grant Elementary School and the Elementary School for the Arts and Academics) is one of three schools in the state to be honored as a Wisconsin Emerging School of Character for 2009.

The award is sponsored by the Wisconsin Character Education Partnership in conjunction with the Character Education Partnership (CEP), which seeks to recognize schools or districts for their work in encouraging the ethical, social and academic growth of their students through effective character education.

The Emerging School of Character award is recognition for The Grant School Family for their excellent work in character education, their well-established best practices, and the strong evidence that they are making good progress in the integration of character education in their schools.

The Grant School Family will be honored on June 16, 2009, at the Focus on Character Conference at the Country Springs Hotel & Conference Center, Waukesha, Wis. The award-winning schools will also receive scholarships to attend this conference and a pre-conference workshop to receive additional staff development in the effective elements of character education for their schools.
