Horace Mann Food Pantry & Clothing Closet

Students are encouraged to speak with a counselor if they are having difficulty with a particular class or other problems. Although it may not be possible to change the class schedule, alternatives will be discussed.

In January, our counselors meet with all students to help schedule courses for the next year.

Parents and students may review student records on file in the guidance office by making an appointment with the counselor. This file contains report cards, test results, and behavioral records.

School psychologist, Kristine Polzin, is also available to Horace Mann students and parents.
Peer Mediation
Peer mediation is a conflict resolution program that promotes students helping students. A group of 8th grade students are trained to help their peers through mediation techniques. In mediation, students can share their perspective of a problem and their feelings safely with the mediator as a monitor. The mediators then guide the students through conflict resolution steps in order to find a solution that works for both parties. This program helps students learn how to solve conflicts in a safe and respectful manner.
