Jackson Elementary School second grader Daniel E. won his "Lunch Dude for a Day" title by purchasing an experience ticket for $1.00 at Jackson's annual Brat Fry that was held in September. Third grader Isabel G. also purchased an experience ticket at the event and won the "Principal for a Day" drawing.
As "Lunch Dude for a Day," Daniel's duties for the three lunch hours included stocking the milk cart, squirting condiments, wiping tables, and helping with outdoor recess supervision. His mom Leslie also came to watch her son's experience.
The lunch ladies of Jackson were thrilled to have Daniel's assistance for the day. "He was very helpful and happy to do whatever was needed. Many hands make less work," said Mrs. Dawn Wagner, Jackson Lunchroom Supervisor for 10 years.
Friday, October 8th wasn't an ordinary school day for Jackson Elementary School third grader Isabel G. No math, no spelling test, and no social studies. Instead she got to "run" the school as "Principal for the Day".
Isabel began her day by reading morning announcements for the entire school, then assisting with emceeing the Top of the Line assembly. Her other duties during the day included supervising on the playground, reporting problems via the walkie-talkie, assisting Mrs. Walters with paperwork, and announcing an end of the day encouraging message for the weekend.
She stated that her favorite part of the day was emceeing the assembly. She also enjoyed the McDonald's lunch with a friend and Mrs. Walters.
