The fifteenth annual Battle of the Books competition took place on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Longfellow School. This literacy competition is designed to motivate students to read and have fun doing so! In addition, the Battle of the Books encourages book discussions, while promoting responsibility and cooperative behavior.
Teams of students were formed with children representing different schools. Each team member was responsible for reading nine books from a list of twenty-seven assigned books. The books covered a variety of levels, genres and interests. The Battle of the Books is organized by Holly Hansen-Grotbeck and Lori Roelse from Longfellow School.
