Jefferson Students Celebrate Success with "Balloon Lady"
Jeanie Johnson, Jefferson's "Balloon Lady," shows students how to make their own dog balloon.
Jefferson Elementary School students were treated to a special time with Jefferson School's own "Balloon Lady", Jeanie Johnson. Johnson, an educational assistant at Jefferson, is a professional "Balloon Lady." During the school's Success Days presentation, Johnson taught the older students how to make a locking twist with the balloons. This made it possible for each of the students to try to make his/her own dog balloons.
Students in the lower elementary grades learned that balloons could be made into the different shapes of the letters of the alphabet. The students watched as the Balloon Lady made figures for each of the sounds of the alphabet.
Success Days are held at the end of each quarter. Students in attendance have displayed good behavior throughout the 9-week quarter. Jefferson School's Success Days are one component of the school's PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) program.
