A Message from the Principal

March, 2015

Dear Families,

I want to thank those parents that came to conferences and those that completed the Title 1 surveys.  I have gone through the surveys and have heard a resounding "WE ARE DOING A GREAT JOB."  Of the 100 surveys that I went through, 90% of them were "Strongly Agree" in all categories.  Ten percent of the surveys were marked "Mostly Agree" in some categories, with some items "Strongly Agree."  There were no surveys that were marked "Disagree."

Many parents suggested having a way to provide weekly communication.  We hope to have a new student management system in the near future that will provide a way for free communication between parents and teachers.

Thank you again for your support.  We can’t do it without you!

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Jefferson Elementary Staff welcomes you to a new school year. We are anticipating another great year of working together with you to provide a great learning experience for your child.

Your school welcomes parents! The most effective learning for children takes place when schools and parents are active partners in education. Your interest and involvement is encouraged. Parents can:

  • VISIT! After allowing a short adjustment period, do visit your school and observe your child's classes. A quick call will let us know you're coming. And for the safety of our children, please sign in at the office.
  • BE A VOLUNTEER! Teachers more than welcome a parent who can listen to children read, drill math facts or check papers. The only necessary job skills are a ready smile and willingness to help out. Teachers occasionally need field trip or special events help. Let your school know you're available by sending a note to school with your child.
  • ATTEND CONFERENCES SCHEDULED FOR YOU! Conferences are held twice a year to share our observation of your youngster's progress. We're happy to meet with you more often if you wish -- simply call or send a note with your child.
  • GIVE A CALL OR DROP A NOTE! We understand many parents are working during the day and are interested in their children's school. If you have a concern - or are happy about an experience your youngster had take just a moment to let us know. If your child's teacher is busy when you call, we'll leave a message and have her/him call back as soon as possible.

By working together, we can help your youngster achieve to his/her potential. Our door is always open. We look forward to seeing you at school!
