The following vacancy exists in the Sheboygan Area School District. SPECIAL EDUCATION ONE-TO-ONE (OHI) EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT
NORTH HIGH SCHOOL
1. Minimum of two years of college (48 college credits) or an associate degree.
2. Special Education Certification #883 or certifiable.
3. Ability to be trained and assist student with tube feeding.
4. Must be able to lift and transfer students.
5. Ability to assist students with feeding, showering/bathing, and toileting/diapering (assuring that student is clean with proper hygiene skills).
6. Medical training (Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant license) is preferred.
7. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
8. Must hold a valid driver’s license. Employment is contingent upon the SASD insurance carrier approving insurability due to past and future driving record. Required to transport students.
9. Experience working with special needs and developmentally disabled students and knowledge of behavioral approaches is preferred.
10. Must be willing to support the North High School mission.
11. Must be willing to make decisions in the best interest of students and staff, and demonstrate the ability to adapt, collaborate, and flourish in an ever-changing educational environment.
12. Must possess knowledge or experience with computer programs and assistive technology equipment.
13. Ability to assist teacher in providing instructional support to individual and groups of students, and in supervising classroom activities.
14. Ability to self-monitor and prioritize the daily/weekly duties of the position with little supervision.
15. Ability to consistently display a positive outlook and demeanor toward job. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing job needs/situations, including demonstrating a willingness to assist others with completion of tasks and to work successfully with constant interruptions.
16. Must possess outstanding communication skills with colleagues, parents, and students.

21. Ability to supervise and assist students in a variety of school and community settings.
22. Bus duty (riding the bus with students) may be required. Schedule is determined by administration. Riding the bus entails beginning and ending the day at Prigge’s Bus Depot. Will not have access to personal car during the day.
23. Must be Non-Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI) trained or willing to be trained.
24. Ability to participate in physical education and swim classes with the students, including assisting in showering and dressing.
This position will involve 7.25 hours per day, Monday through Friday during the school year. The starting rate for this position is $11.50 per hour.
Directly responsible for specific student to which assigned but may provide support to other students in the classroom, as well. Attain knowledge of assigned student’s special needs and alerts. Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for assigned student and other students to participate in classroom activities. Provide direct instructional services to assigned student and other students under the supervision of a certified teacher for the purpose of implementing IEP goals, accommodating students’ learning needs, and/or remediating students’ academic deficiencies. Assist other classroom and department personnel, as needed, for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Assist, as needed, students requiring daily care (e.g. toileting, diapering, feeding, showering, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care and/or developing their daily living skills. Participate in department and classroom team meetings for the purpose of supporting student learning and promoting a positive, collaborative work environment. Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP team for special education students for the purpose of assisting in meeting students’ needs and providing a consistent environment. Monitor and assist assigned student and other students in various settings, including the classroom, library, commons, physical education facilities, community outings, vocational sites, school bus and public transportation systems, etc. for the purpose of ensuring their safety and welfare. Perform record keeping (i.e. documentation of students’ academic and/or behavior performance or daily care needs) and clerical functions (e.g. copying, creating bulletin boards, etc.), as assigned, for the purpose of supporting the teacher in providing necessary records or materials. Provide verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of assisting teacher in evaluation of students’ progress. Other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator.
