The following vacancy exists in the Sheboygan Area School District. All interested persons shall make written application to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources by 4:00 p.m. on May 17, 2013.                                            LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER - 2 POSITINS
                                                        CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be Wisconsin DPI certified in language arts, grades 9-12.
2. Additional Wisconsin DPI Alternative Education license (952) a plus.
3. Must be able to successfully integrate reading, writing, listening, speaking, spelling, and technology into classroom instruction.
4. Desire to work with a variety of ability groups, assessing students’ strength and weaknesses, determining appropriate interventions for continued success, and encouraging opportunities for post-high school goals.
5. Special interest in working with “at risk” students.
6. Willingness to work with struggling readers individually and in small groups.
7. Ability to organize and maintain a classroom free of distraction, incorporating best practice strategies related to strong classroom management.
8. Must have a passion and ability to ensure individual student growth within the subject area being taught

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The teacher must be able to create a strong learning environment with a focus on student rapport and college/career readiness within the subject area. The hired candidate will join a student-focused staff and will have an opportunity grow in a setting that focuses on research based professional development.

Central High School is an innovative charter school deeply committed to student success. In addition, our early college model supports student achievement in ACT and Accuplacer test preparation, college-readiness skills, and application procedures. Students at Central are given the opportunity to take on- and off-site courses for college credit at Lakeshore Technical College, earning credits and certificates concurrently with high school credits.
