SPECIAL BULLETIN

The following vacancy exists in the Sheboygan Area School District. All interested persons shall make written application to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources by 4:00 p.m. on April 14, 2014.                                                     OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
                                                               DISTRICT-WIDE

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a Wisconsin state certified and Wisconsin DPI licensed occupational therapist. Preference will be given to the applicant who holds a Wisconsin DPI license #812.
2. Ability to service students ages three to 21.
3. Ability to travel among multiple schools is required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
2. Flexibility.
3. Pediatric experience beneficial.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the education environment occupational therapy is a related service. Its role is to assist identified students with disabilities to benefit from special education. The school therapist provides occupational therapy support services to special education students (ages three to 21) in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin, the American Occupational Therapy Association Standards of Practice, the AOTA Code of Ethics, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The school occupational therapist collaborates with educators, administrators, and parents to support the mission of education in the environment of the school.

The Sheboygan Area School District is a strong advocate of best practice. Our District educational goals are centered on a Professional Learning Community model. We further support our PLC process with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), Response to Intervention (RtI), and 21st Century Skills. Successful candidate(s) for employment in our District need to have a strong working knowledge of the above listed best practice concepts that are the centerpieces of our District goals.
