Étude, the Sheboygan Area School District High School for the Arts and Academics, invites the public to a preview night of student and faculty creativity at the Paradigm Cafe, 1022 Michigan Ave., Sheboygan, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Students at Étude choose to specialize in visual arts, dance, drama, music composition or creative writing and prepare semester long explorations of the connections between art, history, science, and language. Family, friends and the public will be treated to a "test drive" of many of the students' ideas about creativity at Paradigm.

Rock and jazz ensembles will perform as well as several solo artists presenting original compositions. Poetry Out Loud competitors, participants in a national poetry recitation contest, will share their interpretations of verse, and creative writers will present original texts. Choreography will be shared via video and critiqued. The realm of theater will be represented by a reading from an original play and an improv set.

Étude is a public charter school open to high school students interested in creativity and innovation. More information and applications are available on the Sheboygan Area School District Web site or by contacting charter school administrator Ted Hamm at

There will be an open house at Étude, 721 N. Sixth St., from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4.
