Lake Country's Second Grade Girl Scouts Take Home First Place Costume Award
Lake Country Academy's second grade Girl Scout troop were cause of some double takes at this year's "Monster Bash" when the troop showed up dressed like their male counterparts the Boy Scouts. Their creative efforts paid off when they took home the first place trophy for the Girl Scouts' annual Halloween costume event.
This is only the second time that this particular group of girls has entered the Monster Bash costume contest. In 2006 they took home the first place trophy with their resourceful "duct tape dresses" entry.
"We thought dressing up as the Boy Scouts would be clever and fun to do," said Monica Remington, one of Lake Country Academy's troop leaders. "What was surprising was how overly helpful the male classmates were in lending their uniforms to their female classmates for the event. It was so sweet to see the camaraderie between the second graders."
Lake Country Academy's Girl Scout program began in 2003 and has grown to support six individual troops within the school.
