Cleveland Students Raise Funds for Families in Need
There was a highly charged atmosphere of goodwill and generosity for
the Christmas season at Cleveland Elementary and Northeast Wisconsin
Montessori School last week.
students had engaged in Penny Wars to raise money for two families in
need. Teachers reported that the enthusiasm and spirit of giving that
was shown by all students was incredible.
was challenged to bring in the most pennies. All silver coins were
counted as negative amounts as were dollar bills. Each day the students
came in with their bags full of coins and put the pennies in their own
classroom's jug, while placing the silver coins and dollar bills in the
other classrooms' jugs.
The fourth-graders came
out in first place, while the Montessori class and second-graders
followed in second and third place respectively.
The two Cleveland community families were the beneficiaries of the $444 collected during the week.
