Jackson Third Graders Win Online Chess Tourney
chess team comprised of Jackson Elementary School third graders won the
America's Foundation for Chess' online Thanksgiving Tournament for
playing the most games.
Students from around the
U.S. participated from their home computers and played against one
another. Students had the option of playing either traditional chess or
a simpler version called "The Pawn Game."
As a result of their win, the school will receive a John Bain workbook, in addition to other prizes.
The chess group is led by Sandi Fessler.
tournament was held through America's Foundation for Chess, an
educational program which incorporates learning chess with academics.
