Wilson Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is
celebrating Wilson's 50th Anniversary on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, 3-7
p.m. (snow date Jan. 18).
All former staff members,
graduates and friends, in addition to neighbors, current students and
families are invited to join the festivities.
entire school will be open throughout the celebration with each room
offering insights into class work and achievements. Projects being
showcased in the rooms include kindergarteners' renderings as to what
they will look like in 50 years.
Other events include entertainment by PAWS (choir performance), puppet show, band and string performances and more.
The school will be rededicated in a formal ceremony which begins at 4:15 p.m.
events include: a performance by PAWS (Paulson's Awesome Wilson
Singers), 3:30-4 p.m.; Mozart's Musical Wolf Review, a puppet show
presented by fourth grade class, 5:15-5:45 p.m.; and Wilson School Band
and Orchestra performances, 6-6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served 6-7
Guests will be able to explore 50 years of
educational excellence featuring memorabilia, photos and more. Everyone
is encouraged to bring cameras to capture the moments.
50th Anniversary Cookbooks, comprised of many family-favorite and
secret recipes will be available for $9. Also available are
commemorative bricks which will be customized with your engraving to be
displayed around the school's flagpole; bricks are $35.
Sponsors announced to date include Art's Display, Fresh Brands, Hoffman's Flowerland, Westside Bakery and Walmart.
the month of January students and staff members are encouraged to reach
out to the community by bringing in pet supplies, including food and
bedding, which will be donated to Two Left Paws. Supplies will also be
collected during the anniversary gala, so feel free to bring a bag of
kitty litter or box of dog bones for the donation.
