SASD Joins Twitter To Keep Parents Informed

The Sheboygan Area School District now has a Twitter account be used as another tool to help keep families apprised of school activities.

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts.

Twitter allows families with cell phones to receive text messages when school has been cancelled, will have a delay start, and/or has early release. A Twitter account is free.

Parents and guardians interested in receiving text message updates on their cell phone should do the following:

  1. Text: follow ShebAreaSchools to 40404
  2. You will receive a text message on your cell phone that reads, "Hi! Please confirm by replying with your name. Standard message charges apply
  3. Once you text your name, you will receive a second message that reads, "You'll receive a message every time ShebAreaSchools updates."

The next time Sheboygan Area Schools has an early release, late start, or a cancelled day of school, you'll be one of the first to know.

This is another way for the school district to communicate with families, especially those who may not have access to the internet at home or at their workplace but do have a cell phone.

Please note that standard text message rates may apply.
