Jefferson Holds Special Celebration to Commemorate Dr. Seuss

Jefferson Elementary School recently celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss with reading and writing his stories, and even getting a special visit from Cat in the Hat.

Theodore Seuss Geisel was an American writer and cartoonist, most widely known for his children's books written by his pen name, Dr. Seuss. He published over 60 children's books, which were often characterized by imaginative characters, rhyme, and frequent use of trisyllabic meter. His most notable books include the bestselling Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. His first book was published in 1937 and he wrote numerous books throughout his life. Dr. Seuss has been inducted into the Literary Writers Hall of Fame and has several libraries named after him. Even though Dr, Seuss died in 1991 his books will be cherished forever.
