Musician Shares Life Cycle of Butterfly with Washington Kindergarteners

Washington School For Comprehensive Literacy's kindergarten class under the instruction of Kia Hang was recently treated to a sing along with Mrs. Kris Klemme.

Klemme brought along her guitar and a tree filled with paper cocoons to tell the children the story of the caterpillar turning into a butterfly. Through several repetitions of the song the children showed their understanding the caterpillar to butterfly cycle by filling in the words when the musician would stop the story. The children enjoyed encouraging the butterfly to come out of his cocoon and fly away.

At the end of the presentation the children removed the cocoons from the tree to find that one was open and the butterfly had left, and the others were filled with caterpillars (gummy worms) that the children could enjoy. The children loved the presentation and were totally engaged.
