On March 28 two of Lake Country Academy's Destination Imagination (DI) teams took first place in their respective categories at the regional finals for Destination Imagination held at Chegwin Elementary School in Fond du Lac, Wis.

The third grade team, The Cre8tors, won first place in the ViDIo Lit Hits and the fifth grade team, 7*Up, won first place in both their Instant Challenge and their Main Challenge, Private DI.

Destination Imagination is a world-wide organization encouraging teams to use creative thinking and team work in order to solve a challenge. In ViDIo Lit Hits, The Cre8tors needed to set a piece of classic literature to music to create a live music video that included choreography, two side trips and a dramatic entrance or exit. The Cre8tors presented their interpretation of A Christmas Carol.

In Private DI, 7*Up needed to do an improv skit that included a sleuth, three film genres and a superstition. They were unaware of which film genres, sleuths or superstition they would have to integrate into their skit until 30 minutes before they performed in front of the judges. A minute before their presentation, they were presented a "surprise" element that would also need to be included in the six-minute skit.

Both teams will now travel to Stevens Point on April 18 to compete in the State Destination Imagination finals, hoping to win a spot at the Global competition in May.
