Lake Country Academy Advances to Global Finals for Destination Imagination

Lake Country Academy's 7*Up Destination Imagination team took first place in the category of Private DI at the State Destination Imagination competition held at the University of Wisconsin, Steven's Point. The team has earned the honor of competing at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn.

Lake Country Academy's 7*Up beat out 15 other teams at the state level to advance to the Global Finals.

Destination Imagination is the world's largest creative problem solving organization encompassing more than 300,000 participants in 45 countries. Destination Imagination teaches its participants creative and critical thinking, teamwork, time management and problem solving.

In Private DI, 7*Up needed to present an improv skit that included a superstition and a superstition detector as well as a sleuth and three of nine film genres that were researched prior to the competition. They were unaware of which film genres, sleuths or superstition they would have to integrate into their skit until thirty minutes before they performed in front of the judges. A minute before their presentation, they were presented a "surprise" element that would also need to be incorporated into their six minute skit. Everything they used in their presentation had to be listed on a pre approved material sheet and fit into a 2' x 2' box.

Lake Country Academy is working on fundraising efforts to enable their entire team can attend.

Destination Imagination Globals will be held May 19-23 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
