Amithirigala will attend the Lakeland Summer Camp for Orchestra to further her studies on the cello. Nonnweiler will be attending the UW Madison Band Camp where he will perform on the trumpet.

Professor Fred Schroeder served with distinction on the Lawrence Conservatory faculty from 1951-1978. Nationally renowned as a band director and music educator, Schroeder inspired profound respect and affection from alumni and colleagues. In 1938, he became the band director at North High in Sheboygan. After being commissioned to serve in the Navy for World War II, he was rehired to be band director at North High.

Schroeder touched many lives, and it is with honor and pride that the North High Music Department offers this scholarship. Special thanks go to Grace Merten and George Friedley for their continuing support in offering this financial aid to deserving young band, orchestra, and choir students.
