Juarez, North High Art teacher, has been chosen as the 2009 WAEA
Outstanding Art Educator-Secondary Division in the state of Wisconsin.
Juarez will be recognized along with other recipients at the 2009
Wisconsin Art Education Association (WAEA) Fall Conference's Awards
Ceremony to be held at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and
the Milwaukee Art Museum during fall break in October.
Outstanding Art Educator - Division Awards are awarded to a WAEA member
from each division who has significantly contributed to the
individual's division in art education (elementary, middle, secondary,
higher education, supervision/administration, private education,
retired and museum education) on the local, state and/or national

received follows, "In the challenging time in which we live, it is
inspiring to know that there are dedicated educators such as yourself
who are bringing the truth and beauty of art to our young citizens."
Recently, Juarez was elected the President-Elect
of WAEA for 2009-2011. This position comes with a 6-year term; 2 years

On the local level, Juarez is the Executive Director and President
of The Sheboygan Visual Artists (SVA). SVA provides local artists with
yearlong opportunities for art exhibitions, art auction, gallery
nights, professional development and networking. This year Juarez also
became the Art Department Chair at Sheboygan North High School as well as the 6-12 Secondary Art Chairperson. The art department launched a new and improved website, www.nhsart.com, continued to offer art students various art programs such as the "Art within the Community" Patron Program, Artist Lecture Series, and the Raider Mural Club.
July 2009 Juarez will be presenting his work and discussing his process
to a 2-D Design Class at UW-Green Bay and will be spending two weeks in
Chicago participating in the Teacher Institute in Contemporary Art
Alumni Session at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
