Cooper Second Graders Go Back in Time
graders at Cooper Elementary School recently had the opportunity to
visit the Sheboygan County Historical Museum where they were sent back
in time to make candles, carry buckets of water and play with wooden
toys, like those of early pioneers.
The museum visit
was the culminating activity for the school's pioneers unit. Students
learned about the differences between immigrants and migrants. They
were also able to participate in hand's on activities which helped them
to experience what life may have been like for the pioneers when they
first arrived in America.
Students learned about
what life was like for the early settlers. Students also visited the
Taylor house and learned about what life would have been after a family
was established in the United States. They were able to compare and
contrast how the lives of these two groups were different.
"We had a wonderful time and learned a lot," said second grade teacher Kelly Brotz.
