Sheboygan Teachers Earn National Board Certification
Several Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) teachers recently earned their certificate as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT.) To earn this certification, the teachers completed a 4-part comprehensive written portfolio and six timed, written computer essay responses.
The new NBCT teachers and their areas of certification are:
- Christine Ahrens - Generalist/Middle Childhood
- Kim Cline - Exceptional Needs Specialist/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
- Mark Ellis - Career and Technical Education/Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood
- Jenny Engels - Generalist/Middle Childhood
- Kevin Formolo - School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
- Jay Johnson - Social Studies - History/Adolescence and Young Adulthood
- Julie Koleno - Generalist/Early Childhood
- Rebecca Letter - Social Studies - History/Adolescence and Young Adulthood
- Christine Thiel - Exceptional Needs Specialist/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
- Therese Urben - Generalist/Middle Childhood
All NBCT teachers receive the following benefits:
- Annual stipend from the state of $2500 each year for 9 years. $5000 each year if they teach in a "high poverty" school.
- 12 Graduate credits offered through SASD toward lane advancement
- $2000 reimbursement from the state for expenses they incurred during the process. (paper, ink, computer, books, jump drive, writing retreat fees etc.)
- Six Graduate credits through Alverno College
- A ten year Master Educator license from the state of Wisconsin
- Numerous professional opportunities only offered to NBCT's
