Parent University on February 22 - Parents' Role in Internet Safety

Parent University is an a SASD sponsored and DPI funded Education Forum designed to inform parents and adults in general of the pivotal role they play in strengthening their child's healthy decision making. The keynote speaker, Parry Aftab, Esq., is an Internet Privacy & Security Lawyer, Author, Award-Winning Columnist, Consultant, Public Speaker and Child Advocate. She is a legal and risk-management expert in all aspects of Internet best practices, privacy, cybercrime prevention and abuse-management. Her expertise extends to the traditional Internet industry, social and community networks, wireless and mobile technologies, cyber-marketing and interactive gaming. She is a regular on Good Morning America, CNN, and the Today Show; and on Facebook's Safety Advisory Board and MTV's Advisory Board.

Parry Aftab, Esq. will be providing information to adults about issues related to Internet safety and cyberbullying. She will recount real stories, provide information on parents roles, address concerns, and introduce tools that can aide parents in prevention. SASD is committed to preventing risky behaviors among students and achieve academic success. To that end SASD has a District wide strategic plan in place and is implementing numerous research-based strategies for students, teachers, parents, and the community-at-large. to increase healthy decision making and decrease risky behaviors. This event is one such strategy aimed to strengthen parents' skills to keep their children safe in their use of use technology.

Parent University will be held on Monday, February 22, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the UW-Sheboygan Theater. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
