Wilson Students Open Red Wolf Book Store
Wilson Elementary School held the grand opening of its student-run bookstore last March and ever since then, students at Wilson have been enjoying their new books and becoming better readers! Mrs. Jennie Holmes, third grade teacher at Wilson, organized the bookstore with original funding from the PTA. The Red Wolf Book Store is open the second Thursday of each month, after each lunch period. Third graders along with parent volunteers work at the store each month.
The students have the opportunity to purchase a book before going outside to play. All books in the store cost $1.00. The purpose of the Red Wolf Book store is to enable children to buy their very own, brand new book to read at a very low price. More than 450 books have been purchased since the store opened. New books are bought and the stock is replenished each year with the help of the Wilson PTA donations.
