Jefferson School Raises $1200 for Haiti
Jefferson Elementary School students rose to the challenge of raising money for Haiti Earthquake Relief through a penny drive sponsored by the school's Above the Influence student group. The small student body of just over 300 students raised $1000 in one week. A check was presented to the Red Cross.
Bill Klein, Jefferson principal, stated, "When someone in our community got wind of this great effort, another $200 was donated to the cause making the fundraiser total $1200." Klein added, "In times where money is tight with the economy and job loss affecting our families, it is nice to know that people still care so much about others."
