South Staff Continues to Stock the Redwing Pantry
Kevin Heling, South Counselor, stocks the
shelves in the Redwing Pantry
Knowing that some of the South High families are struggling financially, the Sheboygan South High Staff decided to do something to help those Redwing families. At the onset of the 2007-08 school year South High opened its own food pantry, which is called the Redwing Pantry. The Redwing Pantry is accessible to all students and their families who are in need of non-perishable goods. Dozens of families have made use of this resource since the pantry was first filled two years ago.
Since that time the call to South High Staff to "fill the pantry" has never gone unanswered. Whenever the pantry is running low, the staff responds. Now that the pantry has been in existence for two years, families who accessed the pantry are also doing their part and giving back - dropping off non-perishables for other families who are going through tough times. Redwing families who are in need of some food, or who have some extra food in their cupboards and wish to donate are asked to visit the Counseling Center where the Redwing Pantry is located.
