Washington Students Attend State Conference
Mandy Metropolis and Jessica Gruber, Washington School for Comprehensive Literacy teachers and student council advisors, took four students to the 7th Annual Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC) Elementary School State Conference. The state conference was held in Appleton on Monday, March 1st.
Washington School's participation in the state conference marks the first time any staff or students have attended the conference. The costs for the trip were covered using Student Council funds. The students met new people, learned ways to improve communication. The students also learned about the importance of teamwork as well as the importance of effective leadership. By the end of the conference, the students and staff came back with great ideas for projects for the future.
When asked about the conference, one of the Washington students who attended the conference, said, " I think it was important to go there because we got to learn new activities to take back to our classrooms and teach them!"
