Washington Artwork on Display
Artwork from local elementary students is on display at the Mead Public Library all year long. The artwork is located in the children's room. The display is changed each month so artists from different elementary schools can be recognized. Artwork is chosen for the quality of their craftsmanship.
Kindergartners created "Cat in the Hat" portraits done in red and black marker. First graders worked on Paul Klee cat portraits, done in watercolor and 2nd graders created Mexican paper shirts.
The display currently up for the month of March features artwork from the Washington School for Comprehensive Literacy students.
Washington students will also have their artwork on display at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) for the 24 annual celebration of Youth Art Month. The JMKAC display will run from Sunday March 14 through Sunday April 11. This event will include an artist's reception on Sunday, March 21 from 11:00 until 3:00 o'clock. The public is invited. Along with the honor of having their artwork on display each student received a post card encouraging him/her to participate in workshops that are being offered that day.
