The Wilson Elementary School "Students Of Service Club" recently donated $300 to the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund (SCCCF). The club members raised the money by selling popcorn and candy canes during recess.
Tim Renzelmann, Vice President of the Cancer Care Fund, accepted the check from Lexi Kerr during a short ceremony in the guidance office. Monica Bonestroo, Wilson School guidance counselor, is the advisor of the club and helped the students organize the popcorn and candy cane sale.
In addition to the visit from Renzelmann, the students had a surprise visit from "Beacon Of Hope", the club mascot of the SCCCF. Tom Binder, Wilson principal, told the students that he was proud of them for making such a great effort to live by the school's motto 4 > 2 (Doing something for someone is better than doing something to someone.)
On Saturday, April 10, the SCCCF will be presenting the Unity Musical Festival at the Stefanie Weill Center For Performing Arts. All performers are volunteers and auction items are all donated. All proceeds will stay in Sheboygan County to help families, friends, and neighbors suffering financial hardships due to cancer. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for viewing of the silent and live auction items. The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund helps families and individuals in Sheboygan County who are undergoing treatment for cancer. Individuals who would like more information about the SCCCF, "A Beacon Of Hope" for local cancer survivors, can call 920- 458-7433 or 920-45-SCCCF.
