The 56th Wisconsin Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference was recently hosted in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The State Leadership Conference brought outstanding young adults together for an unforgettable experience of FBLA enthusiasm. This year, over 2,300 students, advisers, and guests participated in this conference. The 2009-2010 theme was "FBLA - Simply the Best".
FBLA members from all areas of the state gathered in Wisconsin Dells at the Chula Vista Resort to attend workshops and three delegate assemblies, elect their new State Executive Board members, and compete in competitive events such as Accounting, Desktop Publishing, Banking & Financial Systems, e-Business, Website Development, Cyber Security, Network Design, Database Applications, and Entrepreneurship at the state level. In most competitive events, the first- and second-place winners will be advancing to the FBLA National Leadership Conference that will be hosted in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 14-17, 2010.
The keynote speaker this year was Jonathan Sprinkles. Jonathan has quickly become recognized as one of the most sought-after and well-respected speakers and entrepreneurs in the country. His keynote message, "How to be a Change Maker," was both motivational and empowering. Also, his leadership workshop, "Re-energize Your Organization," provided participants with secrets to: keeping members fired up all year long, finding the best leaders and putting them to work, and how to select the best types of fundraisers.
Sheboygan North High School sent 23 regional qualifiers and 2 advisers, Tom Gross and Linda Bolgert. At the Awards of Excellence Ceremony, Sheboygan North High was awarded the Wisconsin State Leadership Outstanding Conference Chapter - 6th place, out of 184 schools with active FBLA chapters.
