South Students Certified as Assistant Child Care Teachers
Ten Sheboygan South High School students earned their certificates as Assistant Child Care Teachers through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Each student completed a minimum of 10 volunteer hours working directly with young children in a state licensed child care facility, and maintained the minimum grade point average and attendance needed for certification. The students also will receive advanced standing credit at Lakeshore Technical College for having met or exceeded these requirements.
Students earning this certificate did so through the elective Child Development II class that is offered at South High School, under the supervision of their teacher, Wendy Pitlik-Plehn. Each student demonstrated proficiency in lesson planning, reviewing children's literature, identifying key concepts worth teaching, designing an appropriate environment for caring for children and planning a weeks' worth of curricular projects around a chosen theme.
The South students who received this certification are Nikki Ramirez, Katie Zenk,, Iliana Torres, Soua Lor, Carrina Bogenschuetz, Alyssa Hanns, Alyssa Davis, Kaitlyn Hruska, Laurin Davis and Alleeah Pankratz.
