James Madison Students Have Fun on Ready, Set, Bike! Day
The first Ready, Set, Bike! Day at James Madison Elementary School was held on May 26. All students brought their bicycles and helmets for a fun day of activities that stressed safety. A bicycle rodeo, a BMX performance and the finale of a parade led by a portion of the South High Band proceeded through the neighboring streets.
The day was made possible with the help of volunteers from Kohls, National Mutual Insurance and the Sheboygan County non-motorized transportation program. Aaron Brault checked bike tire pressures and proper helmet fit. All of the students took part in the bike rodeo to improve their riding skills and make them safer for the summer season ahead. some of the skills in the bike rodeo included safe stopping, dodging roadway debris and looking back to check for traffic before making turns.
