Lincoln-Erdman Student Council Helps Out Neighbors
Each year the Lincoln-Erdman Student Council chooses a project to help out in their community. This year's project was to rake the lawns of elderly and/or disabled neighbors. The Student Council members chose this project because they understand that the elderly and/or disabled need help in areas they cannot physically complete any longer.
The Rake and Run event took place on Saturday, October 23. Due to the heavy rains that day, the students were only able to rake leaves at one house. After the work was complete, the couple whose leaves were raked served the students hot chocolate with marshmallows and granola bars to show their appreciation.
Jane Mayer, Student Council co-advisor, commented, "The students' compassion was evident with every pile of leaves they raked!" Erin Holfetz, Student Council co-advisor, added, "The Rake and Run was a great event in which kids had fun and really pulled together for a very kind couple."
