Lakeland College held its annual high school mathematics meet on Monday, October 18. Ron Haas, Lakeland professor and organizer of the event, noted that this year's competition featured 35 different math teams with close to 270 contestants competing from schools throughout Sheboygan County. Haas also indicated that this meet is the largest high school competition of its kind in the state of Wisconsin.

A team from Sheboygan North High School took top honors. Members of that team were:

• Otto Kletzein - Grade 12
• Kaitlyn Laning - Grade 12
• Jonathan Wheeler - Grade 12
• Brandon Pakkebier - Grade 12
• Chamila Amithirigala - Grade 11
• Tyler Stank - Grade 11
• Joseph Hameister - Grade 10
• Jon Cook - Grade 9
  

Tony Johannes, North math teacher, stated that a team from North High has finished in first place 14 of the last 15 years.

A team from Sheboygan South High School finished in second place. Members of that team were:

• Martin Aviles - Grade 12
• Alex Holmes - Grade 12
• Zakary Plautz - Grade 12
• Jake Raml - Grade 12
• Mitchell Fox - Grade 11
• Dan Shircel - Grade 11
• Heath Reinl - Grade 10
• Mauro Mendez - Grade 9

A team from North also took fourth place. Members of that team were:

• Trenton Vandewater - Grade 12
• Audrey Blanke - Grade 12
• Nick Lardinois - Grade 12
• Luke Addesso - Grade 12
• Owen Puls - Grade 11
• Lindsay Raleigh - Grade 11
• Chris Wheeler - Grade 10
• Sam Wang - Grade 9

Several North and South students also won individual awards. These awardees include:

• Jonathan Wheeler - Grade 12 North - first place
• Chamila Amithirigala and Tyler Stank - Grade 11 North - second place
• Zakary Plautz - Grade 12 South - fourth place
• Zoe Macknick - Grade 12 South and Mitchell Fox - Grade 11 South - fifth place

Five SASD students were tied for ninth place. They are:

• Brandon Pakkebier - Grade 12 - North
• Joseph Hameister - Grade 10 North
• Trenton Vandewater - Grade 12 North
• Maddie Bouche - Grade 11 North
• Martin Aviles - Grade 12 South
