Horace Mann Continues ‘Adopt-a-Family' Program
![]() For years, Horace Mann Middle School's Student Council has had a
tradition of helping others during the holidays by "adopting" less
fortunate families within the Horace Mann community. This year the
tradition carried on, raising $780. During the month of December, the
Student Council students did in-school fundraisers, raised money at
their annual holiday dance, and accepted donations from staff and
students. Horace Mann's Builder's Club, a service organization at Horace
Mann, also made a generous donation to help make the holidays brighter
for others. The money raised was used to purchase gifts for a record number of students and families within the Horace Mann Community. After the gifts were purchased, student council and builder's club members worked together to wrap all of the gifts. Horace Mann's adopt-a-family program is a collaborative effort between Horace Mann Middle School's administration and office staff, guidance counselors, student leaders and the generosity of the entire school community.
