North Students Take Part in National R-word Day
Sheboygan North High School students recently took part in a national
R-word day by asking the student body to pledge not to use the word
retarded because of the dehumanizing effects it has on cognitively
delayed students and their friends and family.
Students (shown left to right) who spoke to ask the student body to
sign the banner are Zach Sorenson, Leah Samet, Daniele Achilles-Petzold,
Lacie O'Quinn and Michael Pratt. Over 450 signatures were collected on
the banner that will be displayed in the fitness center hallway.
