SASD Middle School Students Excel in Math

Each year, Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) middle school students have an opportunity to participate in a statewide mathematics contest called the Wisconsin Mathematics League. Students tried to solve different math problems each month. Team and individual scores are collated for the school year. The following winners were recently announced.

Sixth Grade
The Urban Middle School team tied for 22nd in the state out of 100 participating schools and took second place in the Sheboygan region. Farnsworth Middle School's team tied for 29th in the state out of 100 participating schools and took third place in the region.

In the individual competition, Urban's Charlotte A. tied for fifth place in the state and took first place in the Sheboygan region.

Seventh Grade
The Farnsworth Middle School team tied for 16th place out of 90 participating schools in the state and took second place in the Sheboygan region. Horace Mann Middle School took fourth place in the Sheboygan region.

In the individual competition, Farnsworth's Luke E. and Urban's Andrew S. tied for fourth place in the Sheboygan region. Angela S. from Horace Mann tied for 18th place individually in the state and took first place in the Sheboygan region.

Eighth Grade
The Urban Middle School team took eighth place out of 92 participating schools in the state and first place in the Sheboygan region. Horace Mann Middle School's team took 17th place out of 92 participating schools in the state and third place in the region. Lake Country Academy's team tied for 26th place in state tied for fourth place in our region.

In the individual competition, Urban's Morgan R. took first place as an individual scorer in the state and also took first place in the local region. Amanda C., also from Urban, tied for eighth place in state and took second place in the Sheboygan region. Horace Mann's David Z. tied for 14th place in state and took third place in the local region.
